We Have A Solution For Everyone

In addition to traceability the platform also provides applications for each participant in the supply chain.

Producers/
Calf Ranches

Livestock Lens provides UHF, LF and Custom Printed Visual tags that help producers track cattle inventory. In addition to cattle inventory at each pasture the app tracks health, and records weights, AI, Preg Checks, and Bull turnouts. The app auto-detects cattle as they come into the chute and collects weight directly from the scales to make data collection an easy process. Producers can also track herds, pasture rotations, and animal checks that promote the welfare and added sustainability to their cattle operations. The platform is used by marquee customers like USDA to track information on their cow-calf herds.

Livestock Lens also offers the industry’s most cost-effective age and source verification program. The data collection process is automated by the app and supports both LF and UHF tags making it easy for producers to participate in the program and certify their cattle with age and source verifications. Cattle buyers can easily verify the data on the Livestock Lens website.

Sale Barns

The app tracks cattle as they come into the sale barns. Cattle are always tracked back to their original owners as they are moved around in the sale barn. In addition, it tracks cattle as they are loaded out as a group. Sale barns can download the data (weights, genetics, and health records) on each group of cattle and send them to their buyers.

Backgrounders

Livestock Lens helps backgrounders track their cattle inventory on their pens and pastures with the tags and app. Livestock Lens tracks data at the individual cattle level allowing for precise inventory control as incoming cattle are processed and as they leave the premises. Livestock Lens also tracks weight, health records, and feed. Backgrounders can also use the app for billing and it is currently the only app that provides integration into Quickbooks that enables electronic billing/payments and profit/loss tracking on each cattle. Backgrounders who turnout cattle into pastures can easily track inventory at the pasture while feeding the cattle.

Feedlots

Similar to backgrounders, the tags and app allow feedlots to track cattle and profit/loss from their operations. Livestock Lens focuses on small-to-medium feedlots and provides a single app to track all cattle, their medications, weights, and feeds across the operation. The integration to chute and feed wagon scales allows feedlots to track the animal and feed weights with unparalleled accuracy.

Packers

The app allows packers to track live cattle using BOTH UHF and LF tags. In addition, the capability to read and identify the hooks allows tracking the live animal automatically and collect data as they move across the packing plant. Information collected includes yields, grades, hot and cold weights, and important cattle attributes like the Ribeye area and Marbling scores. In addition, cattle can be real-time sorted on the rail to group cattle with similar characteristics to the same area in the sales coolers.

Why Use Tags?

Livestock Lens manufactures several colors of high-quality laser printed UHF tags in the United States. Guaranteed not to fade for ten years, these tags can be read from approximately 50 feet away and used to track cattle inventory in the pasture. In addition, UHF tags make it easy to keep track of loaded cattle loaded without putting them through the chute.

FAQ

We have API’s and interfaces that allow third parties to receive data from our system. Users/Systems with a valid key can receive data on their cattle by inputting their chip ID numbers.

Integration of blockchain into our platform begins in 2022, ensuring data cannot be manipulated once it is synced to Livestock Lens. Only data collected directly from our app or third party systems, such as feed and health history and animal genetics, is added to the blockchain to ensure the validity and quality of the data.

Our system can write data to a central database in real-time. Third-party apps can easily access this data and use trolley reads for additional processing (for example, connect the trolley read to hot weight).

Basic POE cameras installed just a few feet from the trolleys run on virtual machines making it easy to get them up and running.

We do not restrict the use of our system. Pricing is based on the number of trolley reads regardless of how many systems are installed inside the plant.

No. We are a company focused on traceability. The trolley reading system is focused on tracing cattle and animal carcasses inside the packing plant. We do make the trolley reads accessible to ERP and other apps used in the packing plant.

Data from UHF/LF readers can be connected to carcass data through identification with the trolley hook. We also provide UHF/LF ID’s to other systems inside the packing plant, connecting the live animal ID to the carcass ID.

We manufacture tags in the United States to ensure quality and reliable supply for our tags. However, our technology is open and can be used with other UHF or LF (or even visual tags).

All tags are tested for 75 feet read range before they are printed and sent to customers. In addition, we use special chips with additional protection to ensure they are not destroyed during manufacturing or while attached to the cow’s ear.

Our apps are designed for use by beef producers and investors, dairy calf ranches, sale barns, smaller backgrounders, and feedlots. Apps can be customized for use by each participant in the supply chain.

The apps run on tablets and do not need an internet connection. Once a user has internet connectivity, data is synced to the Amazon cloud-hosted Livestock Lens platform.

The Livestock Lens platform pricing model is simple. When cattle are traced at a location (for example a ranch, backgrounder, etc.) a small fee is applied. Multiple reads at the same location are counted as one read. There is an additional fee for tags, hardware, and technical support for the apps.

Tags can be purchased by customers who use our platform. Please contact us to get started or purchase additional tags.

Yes, our trolley tracking system can be installed wherever trolleys are used.

If you would like to create a traceability program for your value-added cattle across the supply chain, we can help you achieve that goal.  Our platform supports both UHF and LF tags used for tracing cattle and includes both hardware and data collection and management software.
